Medicinal flowering plants in Cao Bang province, Vietnam: The diversity and medical uses

Abstract: 
There has not been a systematic publication of the list of medicinal plants for the whole Cao Bang province, leading to many difficulties in the use and development of medicinal plants here. The most important goal is to build a list of medicinal flowering plants with information about specific therapeutic uses; The next objective is to evaluate the diversity of taxa for all medicinal plants and their medicinal uses. The method for establishment of the list for medicinal flowering plants in Cao Bang province based on references, field investigations from 2016 to present and study on approximately 2000 specimens at herbaria; Application of Microsoft Access for data storage and analysis. The results recorded 940 medicinal species, 585 genera, 156 families in Cao Bang province. Of these, 577 species are used for 49 medicinal uses (asthma, brain hemorrhage, bronchitis, burned, cancer, cirrhosis, detoxify, diabetes, diuretic, dysentery, encephalitis, eyesore, flu, fracture, galactopoietic, gastritis, gonorrhoea, haemorrhoids, headache, heart and blood pressure diseases, hemostatic, hepatitis, hurt fall, inflammatory bowel, irregular menstruation, keratitis, kidney stone, malaria, measles, mumps, nephritis, obese, oedema, otitis, paralytic, pertussis, pimple, pneumonia, rheumatism, scrofulous, sinusitis, snake bite, sore throat, sterile, syphilis, toothache, tranquillizer, urolithiasis, vaginitis); The assessement of taxonomic ranks of medicinal flowering plants and the number of plant species, genera and families used for each medicinal use.
